Residents in Trempealeau County are concerned about re-routing a creek to accommodate a frack sand mining operation.
WKBT TV reports Allenergy Silica wants to change the course of Trout Run Creek near Arcadia, and build two bridges over the creek.
The company wants to use the area as a sand loading facility to transport sand from a proposed nearby mine.
Allenergy says the proposed changes would allow them to keep hundreds of trucks off the road every day eliminating the impact of trucks on county roads.
Residents are concerned about the impact it will have when the creek floods.
The public has 10 days to comment on the permit request and after that, the DNR. has 20 days to issue a decision on the permit.
