At least two people were injured in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 43 near Wilson Wednesday that forced the closing of the highway.
Winona County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ron Ganrude said three of the vehicles were sedans and the other a mini school bus.
Ganrude said a female driver of one of the vehicles had to be extricated with the Wilson Fire Department "jaws of life" and was flown by helicopter to Rochester with serious injuries. The driver of one of the other vehicles was taken to Winona Health to be treated for injuries.
There was one child on the school bus who sustained a minor bump on the head. The bus driver and the occupants of the fourth vehicle were not injured.
Ganrude said the crash resulted in both lanes of Highway 43 being blocked and a detour was put in place temporarily.
The crash was reported just before 7:00 a.m.
The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation and will release further information.
The names of the drivers and victims were not immediately released.
Law enforcement said Highway 43 is expected to be closed until about 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
