Car vs. House



Winona Police are searching for the driver of a car that struck a house early Wednesday and then fled the scene.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the vehicle was westbound on west Firth Street when it missed a curve and ended up striking the home at 554 West Fifth Street.

Williams said the homeowner heard the crash about 1:20 a.m. and saw the vehicle back up and continue west on Fifth  It's believed the vehicle went south on South Baker.

The vehicle was described as a brown or dark-colored sedan and was missing at least one hubcap.

Williams said the home's front porch door was damaged.
