The Wabasha County Board of Commissioners decided to delay forming a search committee to seek a new county administrator because of a disagreement over who should serve on the committee.
The committee became necessary again after Administrator Larry Timmerman resigned unexpectly on November 26th after only about two months on the job.
The Wabasha County Herald reports the discussion centered on whether the original search committee members should make up the new committee.
A motion to bring back the original search committee members was defeated on a 3-to-2 vote during a heated discussion.
Two other motions failed for lack of a second so board members then decided to defray the decision until a future meeting.
Timmerman submitted a letter to the board saying recent events have made it clear that he was unable to fulfill all of the necessary duties because of the current atmosphere in the county, and he could no longer expect the situation to improve.
Timmerman was hired after the board earlier decided to switch back to the county administrator form of government from having a county coordinator.
The board alsode frayed a decision until later on who should take over the county administrator duties until a replacement can be hired.
