At least two people were injured in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 43 Wednesday near Wilson that forced the closing of the highway for six hours.
The Minnesota State Patrol said a mini school bus, driven by Dennis Becker of Winona, was sideswiped by a second vehicle driven by Jeffrey William of Winona. The school bus then crossed the center line striking a third vehicle and then it struck a fourth vehicle.
Winona County Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said a female driver of one of the vehicles had to be extricated with the Wilson Fire Department "jaws of life" and was flown by helicopter to Rochester with serious injuries. The state patrol identified the only female driver as Dixie Peshon of Winona.
The driver of one of the other vehicles was taken to Winona Heath to be treated for injuries. The Patrol said a 7-year-old boy, the only passenger on the bus, identified as Jeremy Kline, sustained a minor bump on the head. Becker and the fourth driver were not injured.
Ganrude said the crash resulted in both lanes of Highway 43 being blocked and a detour was put in place temporarily.
The crash was reported just before 7:00 a.m.
The highway was re-opened to traffic about 1:00 p.m.....
