Buffalo County Land-use

A proposed Buffalo County land-use plan was forwarded to the county board for action after a public hearing at the county courthouse in Alma Monday night.

Fewer than 10 people attended a 30-minute hearing in front of the county's Land Resources Committee, which voted 3-0 in favor of approving the plan.

Buffalo County is in its final time extension to meet a state law requiring all counties to adopt comprehensive land-use planning ordinances.

Minor additions and corrections were made to the plan Monday night. The county board intends to take action on the ordinance Dec. 17th.

A primary objective of the plan in Buffalo County aims at long-range planning and revision of county zoning laws to meet growing development challenges in rural towns.

The proposed comprehensive plan incorporates completed local land-use plans and addresses mandated issues having to do with a series of public concern elements.
