Rochester School Deficit

Rochester Public Schools officials are forecasting a massive deficit for the school year next fall.

According to the Post-Bulletin, the deficit for the 2014-2015 school year is estimated to be $6,600,000.

The district wants to reduce the deficit with a combination of budget cuts
and use of its "rainy day" fund.

The projected deficit is based on current state revenue and local property tax levels as well as enrollment projects and annual teacher salaries.
