Project FINE (Focus on Integrating Newcomers through Education), a non-profit organization serving newcomers throughout Winona County, is the beneficiary of a $10,000 grant from the Mardag Foundation for the Learning Together: Connecting Parents, Children and Early Childhood project.
The project is designed to improve access and increase participation of immigrant and refugee families in existing early childhood services. The project began in January of 2013 and has over 100 participants in the Winona and St Charles communities.
Project activities include large-group experiences, parent mentoring, and information about existing early childhood resources.
The Mardag Foundation, based in St Paul, makes grants to nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in Minnesota for children, seniors and other at-risk populations and for programs in education and arts
