City Council-Saturday Transit

The Winona City Council Monday unanimously voted to contract with Winona Transit Service to provide public transportation on Saturdays.
The service will begin February 1st, 2014 and Winona Transit will run 4 regular routes from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The operating costs of the service is $100,000, Federal grants will cover $7,500, state grants $5,000 and the remaining $20,000 will be paid for by fares.

Councilwoman Michelle Alexander suggested the council look into adding routes that could take visitors to tourist attractions that would promote the city.
