Hired Farm Labor

Farms employed 73,000 workers in the Lake Region including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan, a 1 percent increase, according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.

Worker wages increased 14 cents per hour on average, rising to $12.15 per hour. Average work hours increased from 37 to 43 hours per week.
Agriculture statistics counted 871,000 employed farm workers nationally, slightly down from a year ago. Pay averaged $11.96 per hour, up 2 percent.
More than 900,000 hired farm workers were employed nationally in mid-summer.
