Car on the Lake

Winona Police said a 70-year-old Woodbury, Minnesota, man escaped serious injury when his vehicle left highway 61 and ended up on Lake Winona Tuesday morning.

Deputy Police chief Tom Williams said a vehicle driven by David Carl Peterson was cut off by another vehicle while northbound on Highway 61. That caused the Peterson vehicle to leave the roadway, travel over the Lake Park bike path and through some trees ending up on the lake ice.

It did not sink.

Peterson was taken to Winona Health to be treated for minor injuries.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and authorities were not able to locate the second vehicle.

The crash was reported at 11:50 a.m. by a witness.....
