Former Winona High Prep Earns Another Horizon League Award
Paul Van Beek Reporting
Former Winona High athlete Alec Brown has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the third time this season. Brown shares the award this week with Valparaiso’s Lavonte Dority.
Brown averaged 23.5 points last week in two games and he shot 77 percent from the field. On the season Brown is averaging 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game. Browns needs just eight more rebounds to become the only player in Horizon League and Green Bay history to record more than 1,500 points, 750 rebounds and 250 blocks. He will also be the only active player nationally to have accumulated those numbers.
UW-Green Bay has won the weekly player of the week award eight of eleven weeks this season and prior to this season the Horizon League record for a program was six.
