Hit and Run-Public's Help Needed



Winona Police are continuing to seek the public's help in locating a vehicle that struck and injured two people Saturday evening near downtown.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams identified the two victims as 20-year-old Andrew Thomas Wood of Robbinsdale and 19-year-old Maxwell Casey O'Brien of Excelsior.

Williams said the two were crossing Broadway at the Washington Street intersection just after 10:00 p.m. Saturday and were in the crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound vehicle.

Williams said two vehicles in one lane of the the four-lane street stopped for the two men but they were struck by a blue pickup truck which was in the other lane and did not stop.

Williams said the blue truck was last seen northbound on Winona Street and may have fled over the interstate bridge into Wisconsin.

The two men was taken to Winona Health and Wood was airlifted to a La Crosse hospital with serious injuries. O'Brien sustained minor injuries.......
 

                 Police are hoping someone comes toward with information that can help them find the truck and the driver. It's believed the truck sustained damage to its bug shield.
