The City of Rushford is gearing up for a major street project this year scheduled to get underway this spring.
The estimated $3,000,000 project will involve the portion of Highway 43 that forms Rushford's main street through downtown.
City Administrator Steve Sarvi told Winona Radio News the Minnesota Department of Transportation will seek bids for the work next month and a pre-bid meeting with prospective contractors will be held before bids are accepted.
The city and Minn-DOT will be sharing the cost with each expected to put up about $1,500,000. The city will get their share through a bond sale.
The work will get underway in early May and is to be completed in October.
Detours around the work area, which include's Rushford's downtown, will be provided.
