Primary Prevention Project

The Winona County Primary Prevention Project hosted a community update Wednesday over the noon hour.
Project leaders went over the 2014 Action Plan for the primary prevention sexual & domestic violence in Winona County and there was a dialogue afterwards with community leaders about the Plan's implementation.

Project Chair, Joe Morse, says he was happy with the turnout and says the project needs community support to succeed.

Winona County was one of 2 MN counties awarded a $30,000 two year state grant to pilot strategies to prevent crimes of sexual violence.

The 2014 Action Plan includes a birth to grade 3 school curriculum for prevention in the next generation, a model workplace policy describing prevention expectations on the job, and  public messages to change the community environment with accurate information and solutions for prevention.
