Wrongfully Convicted

DFL State Representative John Lesch of St. Louis Park has announced proposed legislation to compensate people who re exonerated for crimes for which they had been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned.

Across the country, 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the federal government all have compensation statutes for the wrongfully imprisoned. Minnesota is one of 21 states that do not.

Lesch says mistakes can be made and it's time for some changes.

Lesch says people who are wrongfully imprisoned deserve to be compensated when mistakes are made and helped in their re-entry back into society......
