First District Congressman Tim Walz is urging the Obama Administration to take steps to provide relief to families who are struggling to pay high propane heating bills.
Walz met with a West Concord family Monday which has seen its propane heating bill nearly quadrupled in the last month from $500 to nearly $2,000.

Walz is asking for the extension of the hours of service waiver to allow truckers to quickly increase the available supply of propane.

The administration has already released more low income heating assistance funding and is prioritizing shipments of propane from Texas to Minnesota.

Now Walz is suggesting the creation of a propane reserve to prevent future shortages.
