A 65-year-old Dakota man was jailed Tuesday night on several felony charges following an incident at a Dakota residence.
Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said the sheriff's department is recommending that James Richard Wilson be charged with felony counts of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, assault-strangulation, terroristic threats, kidnapping, and interference with a 9-1-1 call.
Ganrude said Wilson is accused of allegedly punching a 55-year-old female several times in the face, trying to strangle her, holding her in the residence against her will, and threatening to harm her with a knife.
Ganrude said the woman managed to escape the residence and got a ride to the La Crescent Police Department where she reported the incident.
Wilson was arrested at the residence but denied assaulting her.
The woman sustained numerous facial injuries and was taken to Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse for observation.
The incident was reported at 10:21 p.m.
The case was referred to the County Attorney's office.....
