The Whitewater Farmer-led Council will host a pair of workshops in the coming weeks.
On February 18th, there will be three speakers. Jeremy Geske of the MN Ag Water Resource Center will give farmers an idea what's going on in MN in terms of water quality and policy.
Justin Watkins of the MN Pollution Control Agency will share research on movement of nitrates to groundwater and the monitoring they do. Farmers who have corn and alfalfa in their rotations will want to hear Jeff Coulter of UMN Extension talk about updated research on N rates for corn following alfalfa.
Plan to attend March 4th to hear Jeff Vetsch of UMN's Southern Research and Outreach Center speak on nitrogen fertilizer use and how to minimize the potential for loss. UMN Extension's José Hernandez will follow with information on precision ag options like variable rate technologies and precision tillage
Registration for both events held at the St. Charles City Hall, begins at 9:30 am and the program starts at 10. Lunch will be provided thanks to Trout Unlimited. The day will conclude around 1:00 pm.
