The Wisconsin Public Service Commission's chose to not respond to a request to reopen the CapX2020 Hampton La Crosse high-voltage power line docket.
By allowing time to run out on the January 9th request filed by two citizen groups, Save Our Unique Lands of Wisconsin and Citizens Energy Task Force , the request is considered denied effective February 10th.
New information cited by the groups in the request included minimal or declining growth in electrical demand, increased potential to further reduce demand, changes in La Crosse area electrical resources, and a Wisconsin court ruling regarding land-owner compensation.
More than three thousand individuals and ninety municipalities have asked for comprehensive analysis of alternatives to regional transmission.
Attorney Carol Overland, who filed the request on behalf of the citizen groups, said, in a press release, the groups are evaluating other activities to undertake to address CapX2020 concerns, before construction of the line begins in Wisconsin. Construction of the line in Minnesota started last year.
The high voltage line will travel through Buffalo and Trempealeau counties to the La crosse area.
