A $25,000,000 expansion project at Ashley Furniture Industries in Arcadia will be delayed because of regulatory restrictions with the federal government.
According to theTrempealeau County Times, Arcadia Mayor John Kimmel also announced the expansion involves a wetland near the Ashley plant and a mitigation flood proposal to replace wetlands lost by the construction of a new 480,000 square foot Ashley building.
Kimmel said the plan to reroute Myers Valley Creek is in line for some $6,000,000 in state incentive grants.
The creek has been the source of flooding in the past in the Arcadia community. Kimmel said the city's future plan for rerouting the creek has not been deterred by the delay.
