DM & E Sale

The Governor of South Dakota says he will not oppose the sale of 660 miles of Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern railroad track to a Wyoming company.

The sale is proposed by the track's owner Canadian Pacific Railway and includes the portion of the DM&E line that runs from Tracy, Minnesota, to Rapid City, South Dakota.

It does not include the DM&E line that runs from Tracy to Winona, which the Canadian Pacific also owns.

The Governor sent a letter to the Federal Surface Transportation Board saying he will not oppose the 210-million dollar sale to Genesee and Wyoming Incorporated.

The Surface Transportation Board needs to approve the sale.
