State Representative Steve Drazkowski will introduce legislation during the upcoming session that would end traffic diversion classes in the state which are offered by local governments.
Drazkowski says the classes have been operating outside a 2009 law that permitted administrative tickets to be issued by local governments.
Drazkowski says a number of questions about the practice, and the funds they raised, need to be answered by lawmakers.
Drazkowski will also ask that the funds previously collected by the local governments for participating in the classes be repaid to the participants.
The list of local governments who had been using the diversion program includes Goodhue and Wabasha counties, plus the cities of Wabasha, Plainview, Lake City, and Red Wing. which have stopped the classes.
