The Winona County Historical Society has its Arches Museum of Pioneer Life up for sale.
Spokesperson Jennifer Weaver said the plan is to use the proceeds from the sale to construct a new museum building on the Winona County fairgrounds in St. Charles.
The current museum's contents, including artifacts and exhibits, would be moved to the new building, along with the barn and cabin located at at the current site.
Weaver said the museum's Little Red School House has been donated to Winona State University and will become part of that school's proposed Education Village to be refurbished. It will be used to demonstrate WSU's early days when it was the first teacher's college west of the Mississippi River.
Weaver said the current school house located on the fairgrounds will be used by the Historical Society for its Pioneer School.
She said the covered bridge that was constructed recently at the Arches museum will remain with the property.
The move is being done in order to attract more people and provide a bigger space.
