DNR-Deer Meeting

Target numbers for managing the deer population in southeastern Minnesota were the topic of discussion at a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources public meeting in St. Charles Tuesday night.
Representative Steve Drazkowski, who has been concerned about damage to farm properties caused by deer, said many farmers want questions about those target numbers answered.

Drazkowski said avid hunters have been opposed to the target numbers set by the DNR and would like to see a change.

The meeting was the first step in the DNR's goal-setting process. A citizen advisory team will be convened to provide direction on future deer area management goals.

Members of the team will be announced by the DNR within a few weeks.
