The Winona City Council will be asked Monday to approve an action that would help pave the way for Midtown Foods to expand with the addition of a 3,000 square foot liquor store.
The council will be asked to transfer some city property on the north side of the store to the Winona Port Authority which would then have to approve the sale of the property to Midtown Foods.
According to the council agenda, Midtown owner Ernie Gorman says the liquor store would help his business stay competitive in the Winona market.
Before the addition could be constructed a public hearing on the sale of the property to Midtown would need to be held.
The council will also hear an update on the Main Street program and look at a proposal to reduce utility fees.
Monday's meeting is at City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
