Girls High School Playoff Basketball Continues Tonight



The Cotter girls’ basketball team will look to pull off a big upset tonight when the Ramblers play top seed Chatfield in the Section 1AA East Sub-Section semifinals in Rochester. Chatfield went through the regular season undefeated and they are 23-0 heading into tonight. Cotter is 15-12 and they are coming off of a 56-43 victory over Lake City that head coach Pat Bowlin calls one of their best performances of the year.

Chatfield won both regular season matchups this season and one of the games was closely contested while the other game was a blowout. These two teams are meeting in the sub-section semifinals for the second straight year and last year Cotter upset Chatfield in overtime.   Tonight’s Cotter game can be heard on KWNO 1230 AM and online at winonaradio.com starting at 5:45. The other semifinal game in the sub-section has Plainview-Elgin-Millville playing La Crescent.


The Rushford-Peterson girls will take on Mabel-Canton tonight in the Section 1A East Sub-Section semifinals at 6:00. The Trojans come into the game 21-4 while the Cougars are 15-9. Rushford-Peterson beat Mabel-Canton during the regular season 74-55. Tonight’s Rushford-Peterson game can be heard on K Country 99.3 starting at 5:45. The other East Sub-Section semifinal has Fillmore Central playing Spring Grove.

The WIAA girls’ basketball playoffs begin tonight and Cochrane-Fountain City plays on the road at Gilmanton in Division 5. In Division 3 G-E-T plays host to Altoona.

Arcadia is a two seed in the Division 3 playoffs and they have a bye in the first round.
