Miller-Synthetic Drugs

While a law passed two years ago has reduced the number of arrests in Minnesota for the use and possession of synthetic drugs, lawmakers this year are poised to increase the penalties for selling the drugs.

State Senator Jeremy Miller, who authored the previous bill, said arrests of users has fallen but the problem is still out there.

The new legislation would allow the state Board of Pharmacy the power to order businesses to stop selling synthetic drugs. It also calls for a statewide educational campaign, expanded drug definitions, and training for prosecutors.

Miller is a co-sponsor of the Senate bill.....
