Dayton-Budget Surplus



Governor Mark Dayton wants to use half of Minnesota's projected $1.2 billion surplus to cut taxes. His supplemental budget plan also recommends increasing state reserves by more than $450 million.      

Dayton says the budget surplus is the result of Democrats taking a balanced approach to the budget last year against the wishes of Republicans who resisted tax increases and push for spending cuts.

In an unusual move, Republican Greg Davids told Winona radio he likes the Governor's proposed tax cuts better than the tax bill passed Thursday in the House.

Davids calls both tax cut proposals a good start.....
