Winona County investigators were at the scene of last Saturday's shooting near Pickwick on Wednesday doing a reconstruction of the scene and to look for more evidence.
Sheriff Dave Brand said the investigators were trying to verify some statements made by the 64-year-old person of interest who was at the home of Mickey Ellenbecker when
Ellenbecker was shot.
Brand said the investigators wanted to determine how the shooting happened.
Meanwhile, Brand said autopsy results from the Mayo Clinic showed the cause of Ellenbecker's death was the wound in the back of the head.
Brand said authorities are still not calling it a homicide. But he also said they know it was not a suicide. Both the bullet and the 22-caliber revolver were recovered.
The person of interest is not being held in custody.
The 72-year-old Ellenbecker died at a La Crosse hospital on Sunday.
Brand said the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been contacted but is not yet involved in the investigation.....
