Minnesota State College--Southeast Technical is one of 13 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to receive grants totaling $3,300,000 from the state's Job Skills Partnership.
Businesses working as partners with the colleges will match the grants with an additional 8.9 million dollars bringing the total impact to 12.2million dollars.
SE Tech will get a $300,000 grant on behalf of T-R-W Automotive in Winona.
Following significant investment in new production and test equipment T-R-W is now the lead candidate in the award of major contracts by the top three U.S. vehicle manufacturers. With 260 current union employees, TRW anticipates hiring 150 new workers over the next two years. Funds will support training 410 employees to prepare new workers for the production floor and upgrade the skills of the existing workforce.
Southeast Tech will also get a $270,257 grant on behalf of Benedictine Healthcare System, which operates Saint Anne of Winona. Those funds will be used to develop a new training program for Certified Care Partner, an emerging occupation. Training will greatly improve the skills of 277 Benedictine Health System employees who will be more marketable and have increased wages and employment opportunities as a result.
Southeast Tech will gain new courses and a new Certified Care Partner Certification program to serve other long-term care businesses and individuals.....
