Local authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in the backyard of a Rollingstone residence Sunday afternoon.
Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said the owners of the home at 164 Broadway returned to the residence Sunday after being away and found the 57-year-old Winona man deceased and lying in a pool of blood. The owners then called the Sheriff's office
The man's name is being withheld at the request of relatives.
It's believed the man had been there since the early morning hours of Sunday.
Brand said investigators discoverd the man's glasses near the park and a trail of blood leading along a street from the Rollingstone park about one and a-half blocks to the home.
Brand said the victim had been watching the home for the owners.
He said the cause and the manner of death is being investigated.
The body was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for an autopsy.
Brand said pools of blood were discovered leading from the park. He said it's not known at this time how the man died but it was apparent the man may have tried to walk from the park to the home he had been watching.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to investigate along with the Winona County Attorney's Office.
Brand said the BCA has completed its investigation of the scene.
