State Contracts

A bill endorsing a set of ten state employee contracts is bound for Gov. Mark Dayton.
House voted 84-48 on Monday to ratify agreements negotiated last year. They apply to some 38,000 workers including many employees at both Winona State University and Southeast Tech.

Supportive lawmakers argued they make up for years of mostly stagnant pay.

But Republicans called it a giveaway to the unions. Representative Steve Drazkowski said some employees will get more than the 6-percent increase across the two year deal.

The bill awaits Dayton's signature.....
