The Minnesota Department of Transportation says it will undertake 1.1 billion dollars in 308 state road construction projects during 2014 including several in the Winona area.
MnDOT says some 65-million dollars will be spent this year on the first phase of the Winona Bridge Project which is the construction of a new bridge over the Mississippi River. That project will begin in June.
Nearly ten million dollars will be paid for the resurfacing of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 in Winona County from Highway 76 to Winona County Road 12 starting in May.
In the city of Winona, Highway 43, from Mankato Avenue to Mark Street, which is also Sarnia and Main Street, will be resurfaced this summer at a cost of $448,000.
22 miles of Highway 26 in Houston County from La Crescent to the Iowa border will be resurfaced starting in May at a cost of 5.8 million dollars
Highway 44 in the Spring Grove area in Houston County gets a new surface costing 5-point-7 million dollars.
St. Charles will get a $70,000 project to construct turn lanes into its new Business Park located near the St. Charles--Interstate-90 intersection.
And.... eight miles of Highway 61 in Goodhue County north of Red Wing will be resurfaced starting in May at a cost of 4.4 million dollars.
