A Wisconsin Highway 93 improvement project in the City of Independence is underway this week.
The Trempealeau County Times reports the 6.1 million dollar project involves re-paving the state highway near its intersection with Highway 121. The first phase of the project is due for completion in late May or early June.
Detours are in place for traffic. A bridge replacement project is also interrupting traffic on Highway 93 near Interstate 94, were traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions.
