The Minnesota Department of Transportation has unveiled plans for construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Highways 14 and 42 near Eyota.
The Rochester Post-Bulletin reports that during an open house officials said the project will cost $4,000,000 and construction is slated to get underway in the summer of 2015.
The highway 14-42 intersection has been a dangerous one for many years and the officials said the roundabout was preferred over stoplights because it eliminates right-hand turns and slows traffic down.
The project will be paid for entirely by state and federal funds and no local dollars will be needed.
