Bonding Bill

When state lawmakers return to St. Paul next Tuesday following an 11-day recess just one major piece of legislation remains on the table...the bonding bill.

Representative Gene Pelowski says while the Senate has yet to release its bonding proposal, the House version contains funding for three Winona requests.

Pelowski says it is unlikely, though, that the bonding bill will contain the 4.2 million dollars the City of Winona wants to finance half the Louisa Street extension project to Highway 61 in the city's east end.

Pelowski says Democrats will need Republican votes in both the House and Senate in order to pass the bonding bill, and that means a compromise will need to be reached on the amount of the bill.
