Frack Sand Rally

The Winona area group, Citizens Against Silica Mining will hold a rally Saturday (April 26th) at Levee Park in Winona where.speakers will describe threats to the Earth they say are posed by fracking and the related industry.

The 3:00 p.m. rally will follow the city's Earth Day activities (which run 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). The rally is not officially part of the city's Earth Day activities.

The public is encouraged to catch a showing of Mysteries of the Driftless, a short film being shown repeatedly by the city in the waterworks building from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., as the film's co-producer, George Howe, will be speaking at the rally after that.

After the rally there will be a dinner reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Ground
Round restaurant where the public will have an opportunity to hear more from the speakers as well as see We're Surrounded -- a short, locally-produced video about frack-sand mining operations in Winona.
