Frack Sand Petition

The Land Stewardship Project in Lewiston will present a petition signed by over 5,000 people to Governor Mark Dayton next week calling for a two-year moratorium on frack sand mining in southeastern Minnesota.

Southeast Minnesota residents will be traveling by bus to the Capitol on Earth Day, April 22, for a noon press conference and delivery of the petitions to the Governor.

Project Organizer Bobby King says the signatures have been gathered since a Frack Sand Summit in Winona in January and call for the governor to also create tough regulations for the frack industry and implement community-based renewable energy policies.

A group of citizens will travel by bus to St. Paul on April 22nd, holding press conferences in both Winona and Red Wing, and at the state capital.
