Moreno-Assault Charges

Winona Police said felony assault by strangulation charges are being recommended against a 26-year-old Winona man.

Police Chief Paul Bostrack said officers were called to the Sterling Motel early Thursday on a report of a disturbance in one of the rooms.

Arrested was Nelson Harley Moreno who is also accused of assaulting a female victim.

Police are also recommending the county attorney charge Moreno with interference with a 9-1-1 call.

Bostrack said the female was punched in the face during a disagreement.

Police got the call at 1:30 a.m. Thursday from another resident of the motel.
