This is Severe Weather Awareness Week and that means a statewide tornado drill will be taking place on Thursday in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Winona County and surrounding counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin will be taking part in the mock tornado drill.
Weather sirens will be sounding at 1:45 p.m. in both Minnesota and Wisconsin counties. It's a day for families to practice their emergency plans related to tornados. Minnesota experiences an average of 40 tornados a year.
In addition to the 1:45 p.m. mock tornado drill, many counties in Minnesota, including Winona County, will have a second mock tornado drill at 6:55 p.m. on Thursday.
