Winona State Adds Familiar Face As Assistant Coach
The floor general of Winona State’s first national championship basketball team will be back in McCown Gymnasium, this time as an assistant coach. Zach Malvik, an All-American who led Winona State to the championship game in both 2006 and 2007 has been hired as an assistant coach for the Warrior program. Malvik takes over for Tom Brown who left to become the head coach at West Texas A&M. Malvik is the first new assistant coach for Winona State in the last 16 years.
Malvik spent last season as an assistant at Saint Mary’s and before that was a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas. After his playing days were over at Winona State Malvik played professionally in Australia for three seasons before getting into coaching.
