A reminder, statewide tornado drills will be taking place Thursday in both Minnesota and Wisconsin as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Winona County and surrounding counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin will be taking part in the mock tornado drill.
Emergency sirens will be sounding at 1:45 p.m. in both Minnesota and Wisconsin counties. It's a day for families to practice their emergency plans related to tornados. Minnesota experiences an average of 40 tornados a year.
In addition to the 1:45 p.m. mock tornado drill in both states , many counties in Minnesota, including Winona County, will have a second mock tornado drill at 6:55 p.m where the emergency sirens will also sound.
