After nine hours of mediation Wednesday the Winona area Public School Board negotiators and the Winona Education Association reached a tentative settlement on a new two-year contract.
The district's Human Resources Director, Pat Blaisdell, said details of the pact will be released when the contract is expected to go before the school board at its May 15th meeting. Blaisdell said the teachers are expected to take a ratification vote in early May.
While the details were not released, Blaisdell said the tentative financial settlement is within the parameters set by the school board and the district is hopeful the teachers will ratify it. She said the district negotiators believe it is a fair settlement consistent with the established board guidelines.
The contract is retroactive to July 1st of 2013 and also covers the 2014-15 school year.
