About 20 young women - 4 from each of 5 different area schools - will be participating in the GUESS Academy at Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical this year.
Special guest Carrie Leopold from the Great Plains Girls Collaborative Project will motivate and inspire the group by sharing her enthusiasm for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) careers.

Friday will feature a day of hands on scientific exploration focused on STEM topics, including experiences in auto body, welding, CAD, robotics and nanotech.
The purpose of the academy is to increase the diversity of those pursing science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields and to engage more girls in considering careers in those areas.
