Drug Take-Back Day
On Saturday, April 26th, ninety-one pounds of expired or unusable pharmaceuticals were collected in Buffalo County during the Pharmaceutical Waste Clean Sweep.
The Buffalo County University of Wisconsin-Extension Office and Buffalo County Sheriff's Department offered the program in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Agency as part of a national collection day. This is the 3rd time that Buffalo County has participated in the national event.
More than 60 Buffalo County residents participated in the collection event held in Cochrane this year. Previous collections were held in Alma and Mondovi. Pharmaceuticals belonging to family members are one of the fastest growing areas of drug abuse among young people in the United States and Buffalo County.
