A 41-year-old suspect in an alleged scam was arrested at a Winona County residence Tuesday evening.
Taken into custody at a residence along County Road 19 in Wiscoy Township was Dale Marks of Altura.
Marks had been wanted after he allegedly sought to obtain $1,000 from a Lewiston area elderly female. Authorities said Marks told the woman the money would be a donation to a Lewiston family who lost four of its members in a traffic crash.
The victim turned over a check for $400 but Marks was unable to cash it at a Lewiston business according to the sheriff's department.
Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said authorities got a tip on Marks location from Rushford Police who were also looking for Marks on an arrest warrant.
A 35-year-old female was also taken into custody on an unrelated warrant for an alleged probation violation.
