During the month of May, Winona students are encouraged to walk, bike or roll to school every Wednesday as part of National Walk/Bike to School Day.
Live Well Winona's Janneke Sobeck says it starts this week and every Wednesday this month. Sobeck says students will be guided by volunteers to ensure safe arrival at school.
Deb McClellan with Live Well Winona says volunteers would donate about an hour of time to help the students get to school.
The rain or shine event is a fun way to motivate kids to become more physically active. The effort is a coordinated partnership between Winona Area Public Schools, Live Well Winona, Parks & Recreation, and PartnerSHIP for a Healthy Winona County.
Volunteers are needed to bike and walk with the kids. To or for more information, call 494-0900.
