Mork-Motorcycle Safety

Fountain City Police Chief Jason Mork is promoting motorcycle safety awareness as part of a national and state program to highlight safety issues.
With the motorcycle riding season beginning, motorcycle safety managers want to remind drivers to "share the road" and watch for motorbikes at intersections and when making turns and lane changes.
Mork says over half a million Wisconsin residents have motorcycle licenses or permits. Nearly 400,000 motorbikes are registered.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says 84 motorcycle riders and passengers were killed in state traffic crashes in 2013, a 28 percent decrease from 2012.
Three out of four people killed in state motorcycle accidents last year were not wearing helmets.
