The first of four candidates for the position of vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Winona State University Foundation was interviewed Monday.
A public reception was held for Dennis Cooley at the Winona County History Center.
Cooley, who is currently employed as assistant chancellor for university advancement and director of the college foundation at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, says WSU and the community would be a great fit for him.
Cooley says Winona is beautiful place with friendly people and he notes WSU is very active in the community.
Each of the other three candidates will be interviewed one at a time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with receptions for them at the same location.
The second candidate, Ernie Hughes, will be in town Tuesday. Hughes has been with the Southern University System in Louisiana for the past two decades, where is currently director of community economic development.
The candidate who is chosen will replace Gary Evans who has filled the position on an interim basis since Jim Schmidt left to become Chancellor of Wisconsin-Eau Claire last July.
